Towne Lake Triathlon Update:

The Towne Lake Triathlon was canceled due to catastrophic flooding and tornadoes that came through the area from Hurricane Harvey.  We appreciate your patience at this time as we wait to hear from all of the entities involved about potential options we have proposed.  Many of the good folks in and around Towne Lake have been working hard on homes damaged by the flooding.  Our police department has continued to serve tirelessly since Harvey.  Our staff was deeply humbled as we joined recovery efforts in some of the hardest hit areas.

Our goal, as always, is to put on a first class, safe, memorable event.  We will let you, our amazing athletes, know what we are doing moving forward.   This could still take some, so thank you again for your patience. Please check your email that you used to sign up with at RunSignUp as well as Facebook for updates as they become available.  As always a big thank you for your support!

Refund Policy
We have a very strict no refunds, transfers, or deferrals policy. Much of what goes into producing an event like this is spent up front and offering refunds, transfers, or deferrals may effect the future of the event because funding is allocated early. Please do not signup unless you are sure you'll race and/or you're willing to accept the registration loss if you end up not racing, for whatever reason. Thank you.

Check Communication
It your job to frequent the website and check your emails. If you use a work email there is a good chance our emails and website will be blocked by your firewall. Use a personal email address and check the site from home. Like us on Facebook and join our newsletter to get the latest information.

Any changes made to the race are done because we have to, usually out of safety for our participants that arise after the race has been planned. We are triathletes too and do everything to create a better, safer, more enjoyable experience for all of you.

TOWNE LAKE YOUTH TRIATHLON SWIM START PROCEDURE

There will be about 300 youth signed up for Sunday's race. REMEMBER THEIR RACE AGE IS THEIR USAT AGE WHICH IS THE AGE THEY WILL BE AFTER THEY HAVE THEIR BIRTHDAY THIS YEAR (THEIR AGE ON 12/31/17).

All youth competitors will stand next to their assigned spot in transition with their hand touching their race number that is on the transition rack. We will then call each transition row in order to lineup according to their number (lowest to highest) and proceed to walk the line to the dock start/finish area. Once at the dock area the short course kids will go first followed by a short break after which the long course kids will begin.

This year we have a new and improved transition area. We have a dock that will serve as the time trial start jump off point and will also serve as the exit on the other side of it. Kids will swim a straight line to an orange buoy, go around it and come back on the other side. Kayaks will force the swim line with kids swimming on one side of the boats on the way to the turn around buoy and on the other side of the kayaks on the way. back. They are close to shore as they swim. There will kayaks, guards, medics, volunteers and all the parents can walk the shoreline as their child swims. It is over their head but they can float, hold a kayak, rescue tube, or even swim to shore, rest, and start again.

As for the rest of the course…. The short course kids do 1-lap on the bike (1-mile) and 1 out-and-back (.6-miles) on the run. The long course kids do 2-laps (2-miles) on the bike and 1 out-and-back (1.15-miles) on the run.
